A retired programmer who had a rewarding career working at Charles Schwab. I was fortunate to be hired to write the database code for storing all the real time stock market trades and then providing that information to our day traders in a timely manner. Originally the product was Street Smart Pro and after the Schwab buyout was referred to as “Edge”.
A few years later, I became very interested in studying “learning strategies” and “how we learn”. I went back to school and pursued my teaching certification. I am currently substitute teaching in Texas along with online tutoring math and English some very bright ESL students from Beijing, China. I am working thru a great school there called ACE International.
The cultural differences between the two countries in the raising of our children is alarming. It is hard to envision how the [growing/seeping] entitlement environment prevalent in our middle and high schools will yield [economically/financially?] competitive adults in the decades ahead. There are already a growing number of old and young Americans wanting more, expecting more for their efforts.
