OGA Dota PIT Season 2: Europe/CIS opened today with an upper
bracket series between Natus Vincere and Alliance as the two fought to avoid
dropping into the lower bracket.
Once upon a time, Na’Vi versus Alliance was considered the
El Clasico matchup within Dota 2, especially after The International 2013 Grand
Finals. However, as time has passed, Na’Vi have fallen off quite a bit and both
teams have seen multiple roster changes – except the return of Gustav ‘s4’
Magnusson has seen a huge resurgence for the squad. With Na’Vi making a few
roster changes themselves just a few days ago, the team would be hoping to find
a victory over their once main rival.
Alliance went into the best-of-three series looking
extremely strong as they claimed an early lead in the first game and never let
it go in the 38-minutes which it lasted. While Na’Vi did claim some crucial
kills through the game, it was never enough to turn the tides and Alliance
would take a solid lead in the series.
Game two would see things get worse for Na’Vi as they
struggled to find their footing with Nikolay ‘Nikobaby’ Nikolov picking up his
brilliant Morphling and leaving the Na’Vi squad in their dust. It took only
25-minutes for game two to be over as Alliance took a commanding 2-0 victory
and moved into the next round of upper bracket action at the OGA Dota PIT
Season 2 EU/CIS event.
For Na’Vi, they will now have to fight through the lower
bracket if they want to continue on in the tournament with their next
challenger being decided later between Vikin.gg and FlyToMoon.
