Call of Duty Champs start date leaked by Call of Duty League broadcast

Over the weekend, we saw eight Call of Duty League teams battle it out at the New York Home Series. The event itself was quite thrilling, as the Subliners home team took the victory over the favored Chicago Huntsmen. We also witnessed the aforementioned Huntsmen finally face the Atlanta FaZe. All in all, it was a terrific tournament. However, something interesting took place after the event ended. While not confirmed, it appears we have a start date for Call of Duty Champs thanks to a leak from the official broadcast.

CDL leaks the start date for COD Champs?

If you stuck around for the post-show, you might have caught a glimpse of the leak. A promotion for Call of Duty Champs was shown at the bottom of the screen, showcasing the prize pool and supposed start date.

Though this wasn’t formally announced by the CDL or Activision, this is as official as something can get without it being officially revealed. As clear as day, we can see that COD Champs is set to take place from August 29-30, 2020. Those dates are a Saturday and Sunday, which would make sense for a Call of Duty event.

Some fans thought it was weird that the event only takes place over the span of two days. After all, it takes three days to get through a Home Series event, and those tournaments only have eight teams. At COD Champs, all 12 teams will be competing for the $4.2M prize pool.

Activision and CDL have yet to comment on the supposed start date. However, now that the information is out in the wild, we can expect some kind of announcement within the coming days or weeks.

The Call of Duty League has two more events in its regular season, starting on July 17 and 24, respectively. After that, it appears the final event will start a month later on August 29, unless the leaked image is inaccurate or Activision changes its mind.
