CDL 2021 Power Rankings after Stage 3 Week 1

Here’s our updated Power Rankings for the 2021 CDL Season.

Stage 3 of the Call of Duty League got underway this week. With some dominant performances and surprise upsets, our Power Rankings have shaken up a little. Here’s our new and updated Power Rankings following Stage 3 Week 1.

12. Paris Legion (-)

After suffering back-to-back losses this week, Paris Legion stay bottom of our Power Rankings. The addition of Temp may take some time to make an impact for the Legion, but from what we saw this week, they don’t look improved at all.

11. London Royal Ravens (-)

The London Royal Ravens also suffered back-to-back losses, however they showed some promise. Zaptius performed well in his debut matches, and the Ravens looked improved in their slaying. With more practice, this team could be dangerous.

10. Los Angeles Guerrillas (-)

While they 3-0’d Paris Legion, the Los Angeles Guerrillas stay in 10th. Why? Well, we’re not quite convinced by them just yet. Paris Legion allowed Moscow Hardpoint to creep into the mapset, and this is a great map for good ARs, something that the Guerrillas definitely don’t lack. So the vetoes favored them massively in that match. We need to see more wins from the Guerrillas before they move up our rankings.

9. Seattle Surge (-1)

Seattle Surge started their week being reverse swept by the LA Thieves. While this was a frustrating match full of disconnects and restarts, it was the Thieves who held their nerve, and came out on top. Seattle however, do look like a good squad, Prestinni is still dominating, but they just can’t win series. We think it may be time for a change.

8. Florida Mutineers (+1)

From 8th to 1st in our Power Rankings, it’s all to play for. These top 8 teams are extremely close, but the Mutineers sit at the bottom. They need to be more consistent. Their 3-1 win over Minnesota ROKKR was great, but in their previous game against Toronto, they looked completely lost. More consistency is needed from the Mutineers.

7. LA Thieves (-)

Consistency is something that the LA Thieves have mastered in recent weeks, and they’ve had a great start at Stage 3. Wins over Seattle Surge and London Royal Ravens see them dominate the easier side of their group, however, they now need to prove themselves against the big boys.

6. Minnesota ROKKR (-1)

ROKKR took a 3-1 loss to the Mutineers in their only match of Week 1, but this is nothing to worry about. Minnesota have a great roster, and one that knows how to bounce back after a loss. However, their match against Paris Legion next week is a must win if they want to seed well for the Major.

5. Dallas Empire (-2)

After dropping Huke, we can’t see things getting any better for Dallas Empire. They were dominated 3-0’d by Toronto Ultra in a match that required some top tier plays to clutch up, something that Huke regularly does. While FeLo performed well, the teamwork wasn’t there, we’re not sure what’s next for the Empire.

4. OpTic Chicago (-)

OpTic have recovered excellently from their disappointing end to the Stage 2 Major, The squad look more focused than ever, and they’ve only dropped one map in their two games this week. An OpTic with momentum is dangerous, and they’re starting to gather it.

3. New York Subliners (+3)

The addition of Hydra sees the Subliners defeat Atlanta FaZe in a Game Five Round 11. Hydra had the whole European CDL community behind him on social media, and the young gun dominated, going toe to toe with Simp throughout the series. New York looked great in respawn specifically, and they could be contenders for this Major.

2. Atlanta FaZe (-)

While their two recent losses come back to back, FaZe have still only lost three games this season. They have the most raw talent in the league, and they can easily dominate if they return to form. We’re not sure what’s going wrong for them, but we will certainly see them at the top sometime soon.

1. Toronto Ultra (-)

Yet to drop a map in Stage 3, Toronto Ultra dominated with back-to-back 3-0’s this week. Their teamwork and communication seems to be on a level above the rest of the league, and the Europeans are running through the competition. Ultra look great, and it’s going to take something special to stop them.
