In a shocking post, Rod “Slasher” Breslau has stated that popular Twitch personality DrDisrespect has been banned from the platform permanently.
While many immediately jumped out claiming it must be due to a DMCA, Slasher’s follow up tweet shut down the notion. “It is not DMCA” he said.
Guy Beahm as he’s known outside of his persona has been one of the most popular faces on Twitch for years. This isn’t without issue, however, as he’s certainly had his moments in the spotlight and they haven’t always been good.
He was banned in 2019 after electing to enter a bathroom during his own livestream as the Los Angeles Convention Center where E3 was taking place.
While there is no confirmation, many are speculating this has to do with the recent uptick of reports of sexual misconduct, harassment, and more in the gaming and esports scene. If this were to be confirmed, he would join a growing list of popular streamers, broadcast talent, and industry figures accused.
Shannon Liao, Video Games Reporter for CNN, has posted a statement she received from Twitch to Twitter. Twitch stated that “As is our process, we take appropriate action when we have evidence that a streamer has acted in violation of our Community Guidelines or Terms of Service. These apply to all streamers regardless of status or prominence in the community.”
As of now, Beahm has not publicly addressed his ban on his Twitter or YouTube accounts.
