G2 Esports appoints Alban Dechelotte as new General Manager
European esports organisation G2 Esports has appointed Alban Dechelotte, formerly of Riot Games, as its new General Manager.
Prior to joining G2 Esports, Dechelotte was the Head of Partnerships and Business Development EMEA at Riot Games. Moreover, he has held roles at Coca-Cola Company as well as Havas Sports and Entertainment France.
Tribe Gaming secures investment from San Antonio Spurs parent company
Spurs Sports and Entertainment (SS&E), the parent company of NBA team San Antonio Spurs, has invested in mobile-focused North American esports organisation Tribe Gaming.
According to the release, the deal is set to open up opportunities for cross-content collaborations, co-branded marketing efforts, talent and audience crossover, and shared strategic expertise.
Envy Gaming sponsors World Chase Tag team GNF
North American esports organisation Envy Gaming has become a sponsor of World Chase Tag (WCT) team GNF. As a result of the deal, the team will change its name to ENVY GNF.
World Chase Tag is a global league that integrates parkour-based competition into a game of tag. This involves competitors chasing another player through a set course in an attempt to ‘tag’ and mark them out of play.
Semper Fortis Esports rebrands Top Blokes to SMPR
UK-based esports organisation Semper Fortis Esports has rebranded its Rocket League team Top Blokes to SMPR.
According to the release, the rebranding is expected to bring the team ‘closer to its ownership as the organisation expands’. SMPR will act as the official arm for Semper Fortis Esports’s teams, with its current and future rosters all operating under the brand.
ESL enters Israeli market with Gaming Channel partnership
Esports tournament organiser ESL Gaming has granted exclusive media rights in Israel to The Gaming Channel.
For the remainder of 2021, The Gaming Channel will broadcast select ESL Pro Tour CS:GO tournaments and ESL Mobile content in Hebrew — a first for ESL Gaming content.
