Today at OGA Dota PIT Season 2: China would begin with an
elimination series, with the victor able to move a step closer to the grand
finals as Royal Never Give Up and Invictus Gaming played for a spot in the
lower bracket final.
Having seemed unstoppable in the group stages, iG were
quickly dropped into the lower bracket of OGA Dota PIT Season 2: China but were
able to survive a brutal onslaught from Team Aster yesterday and keep
themselves in the event for at least another day. However, today’s challenger
was very different as RNG had been showing some rather brilliant performances,
although losing to iG in the group stages – they would be out for revenge.
Going into the series, RNG showed their current form by
absolutely stomping over the iG lineup in just half an hour – which left their
opponents with only five kills in total by the end of the game. But, from what
we had seen yesterday, iG could bounce back from a stomping defeat and they did
exactly that. Although falling behind by a small amount in the early periods of
the second game, iG begun to gain traction around the 30-minute mark,
constantly taking strong fights – but not pushing their advantage too far either.
As things progressed, they were able to solidify even more and tie the series,
moving things to a decisive game three.
While on the scoreboard, the third game was relatively even
at 24-20, never really found their footing – with Jin ‘flyfly’ Zhiyi’s Faceless
Void unable to survive most of the fights that his team found themselves in.
With that, iG would not be able to complete another comeback victory and would
be eliminated from OGA Dota PIT Season 2: China while RNG move forward into the
lower bracket final.
The day is not over though as next is the upper bracket
final with CDEC Gaming and Vici Gaming playing for the first grand finalist
spot – as the loser will face RNG tomorrow.
