Games and esports data and insights company Newzoo, has partnered with mobile application intelligence provider Apptopia. Under the terms of this new partnership, Apptopia’s mobile data will be combined with Newzoo’s “games market insights to support brands and game developers as well as media, financial, and technology companies.”
Financial details of the partnership were not made available.
The number of people playing games on mobile devices increased tremendously over the course of 2020, as people turned to those devices for entertainment during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the United States and Canada together, there was a 12% increase in those seen as “active gamers” bringing the total to 238.7M players, according to an NPD Group report. In India, it has been suggested that there will be over 370M people player games on their mobile devices by 2022.
On its face, this partnership will look to help Newzoo (a part of Leaders Group, the portfolio of which includes The Esports Observer) enhance its Newzoo Platform that provides mobile engagement metrics such as the fastest-growing and trending gaming apps by title and studio. This agreement will allow Newzoo Platform users to benefit from more comprehensive mobile data and games insights across all platforms, according to Newzoo.
In addition to strengthening Newzoo’s existing data on mobile trends, device usage, and market forecasting for mobile games, the subscription and its accompanying reports will introduce new insights such as mobile ad revenues due to Apptopia’s insight. Additionally, the partnership will strengthen Apptopia’s position in mobile app intelligence within the games market.
