China’s League of Legends esports operator TJ Sports announced the partners for the 2020 League of Legends World Championships. There are three lists in the announcement, including the Chinese official partners, the Chinese special partners, and the global partners.
Global partners named in the announcement are Chinese smartphone brand OPPO and financial service Mastercard. OPPO joined Worlds as a global partner in 2019, and has also sponsored the Chinese League of Legends team FunPlus Phoenix (FPX). This will also be the third time for Mastercard to act as a global partner of Worlds. The global partnership started in 2018.
There are four brands on the Chinese official partner list, including dairy brand Momchilovtsi, spring water brand Wahaha, energy drink brand Warhorse, and KFC. All four brands are also the official partners of China’s top League of Legends competition, the League of Legends Pro League (LPL).
For the Chinese special partners, there are six brands named and two new entrants, including e-commerce platform Suning, financial service SPD Bank Credit Card, Intel, Logitech G, intelligent projector brand JMGO, and intelligent household brand ROEHL.
SPD Bank Credit Card, Intel, Logitech G, and Suning are also official partners of LPL. In addition, both JMGO and ROEHL are all Chinese brands. The brand ROEHL focuses on green and environmental protection, with the main product being an air purifier. It should be noted that the founder of ROEHL, Qiangsheng Ye, is the former head of the Greater China Region at Riot Games.
Financial terms of these partnership deals were not disclosed.
Mercedes-Benz is not on one of three partner lists this year. Mercedes-Benz is currently the only chief partner of LPL, and used to be the Chinese official partner for the past three years of Worlds.
