Bayonetta 3 – Chapter 5: Hot Pursuit Walkthrough

Bayonetta 3 takes a step up from past villains in the series and introduces a threat not to the world, but to the whole multiverse. Cereza and her allies must obtain several Chaos Gears if they want to save all the existence, but for now, another character takes the lead.

During the second part of this world's arc, you will take control of Viola while she chases Luca, who is currently behaving quite strangely, on a mysterious quest that not even Bayonetta knows about. Here's all you need to beat this chapter.

Verse #1

As soon as you finish the cutscene, you will be introduced to Viola as a playable character. Test her skills against a group of Stratus, but once you defeat them, do not leave the area just yet.

  • Enemies: Stratus

Verse #2

Right after the battle ends, look to your right, and you'll see a partially open door, with a purple portal in this area. This will lead you to a challenge where you must kill two waves of enemies, only damaging during Witch Time. This can prove tricky to do with Viola, since her Witch Time is triggered by blocking instead of dodging, but once you succeed you will obtain a Broken Moon Pearl as a reward.

  • Enemies: Stratus, Floccus

Verse #3

If instead, you choose to go left after verse #1, you will find an arc that leads to a golden portal from Paradiso. Reaching it will trigger this verse, where you will confront a new type of enemy called Acceptance. These centaur lancers hit very hard and are really fast, so dodge as much as you can until you see an opening to hit them.

  • Enemies: Acceptance

Verse #4

After finishing Verse #1, keep going and you will reach another open area with a partially collapsed wall to the right. Continue through that opening and walk down the stairs until this new verse is triggered. During this fight, you will have to fight against a single Floccus, which isn't a hard enemy by any means, but it'll serve to try another of Viola's abilities. Once you're done, another cutscene will occur.

  • Enemies: Floccus

Verse #5

Follow Luka across the lava and into a military base while he stumbles on different situations, and once you reach the base, a new verse will begin. You must fight against a pair of Mediocris, and then a pair of Floccus once the base collapses. These enemies should not be an issue for Viola by any means, so once you're done with them continue chasing Luka until a cutscene plays and you find yourself inside a cave.

  • Enemies: Mediocris, Floccus

Verse #6

After a short humoristic sequence, another cutscene will play and you will be introduced to the Nebulosus, a stronger variant of the Stratus enemies you already know. These are both sturdier and stronger, they can fly and also use weapons, so you must dispatch them as fast as possible before they become a real issue for you.

  • Enemies: Nebulosus

Verse #7

Once you're done with verse #6, continue through the stairs on your left and they'll lead to a purple portal. This is a challenge where you will be introduced to two new types of enemies called Accolade and Beloved, two huge enemies that come from Paradiso and hit serious damage through the use of giant weapons like an axe and hammer. Avoid their attacks as much as possible and fight your way through two waves of both Singularity and Paradiso enemies combined, before the time runs out. This can prove tricky to do with Viola since they regenerate their HP very quickly, but once you succeed you will obtain a Broken Witch Heart as a reward.

  • Enemies: Nebulosus, Accolade, Floccus, Beloved

Verse #8

Go back to the cave and exit through the tunnel until you see Luka again hitting his face against a pillar. Keep moving and you will trigger a fight against several Stratus and Nebulosus that shouldn't be hard to beat, and then you can continue through these partially collapsed wooden pathways until you reach a temple, and a cutscene will occur.

  • Enemies: Stratus, Nebulosus

Verse #9

After a brief encounter with our wolf acquaintance, a Volutus will break loose for us to defeat. This huge, fiery variant of an Asperatus will be fast and hit hard with its charging attacks. However, it will also leave a fire path behind him as he runs, so be careful to not stand in the flames. Try to break his charges and dodge when it's necessary, and with enough persistence, you should defeat it in no time. Once the climax sequence triggers, that will mark the end of this chapter.

  • Enemies: Volutus
