A new DayZ update has been launched this week, and developers Bohemia Interactive have shared news on its official patch notes. While some platforms got DayZ Update 1.19 earlier than others, everyone should now have access to the new build. Bohemia warned fans earlier this year that patches in 2020 would be orientated toward catching bugs.
The development team has lived up to that commitment of late, with the last three updates containing small content changes and long lists of bug fixes.
And this week’s DayZ update also contains a number of bug fixes fans will want to know.
- Fixed: A possible server crash
- Fixed: An issue with stacking items into items using swapping
- Fixed: Micro freezes caused by loading of objects such as tents, cars and base building objects
- Tweaked: Temporarily disabled the sun shaft effect
- ActionDrainLiquid and ActionPourLiquid replaced with ActionTransferLiquid (old actions were removed).
While more content changes are expected this year, Bohemia has laid out its plans, telling gamers:
“We would like to dedicate more time for each update this year and thus will leave bigger gaps between the updates to make sure we have more time to prepare for all platforms, which leaves us currently at 5 Game Updates planned for this year.
“This year, the development will focus on stability, bug fixing, and gameplay improvements, along with some new small-scale content.
“Please keep in mind that our policy on announcing exact release dates – or when a feature is coming – will not change.
“We will only make said announcements when we are certain we can deliver within a reasonable time frame – which usually means a feature is already well into its production.”
“DayZ is a complex beast of a game and bug fixing is a constant necessity – therefore, we’ll continue our best efforts to squash as many bugs as we can.”
Bohemia Interactive has been busy on other projects too, with free-to-play Vigor now available to play on Nintendo Switch.
The first stage of this new release is only open to gamers willing to pay for the Founder’s Edition, but the game will go free-to-play later this year.
A message from Bohemia explains: “We decided to take the same approach as we took on Xbox and release the game as a premium title first before it goes fully Free-to-Play.
“This allows us to form a bond with our community and gather initial feedback. While we’re pretty sure the current version is great, we know that feedback may improve it even further.
“As a reward for all the Founders, there’s a hefty package of exclusive cosmetics, title and Crowns, our premium in-game currency.
“While we wiped the progression for Xbox Founders before the Free-to-Play release, this step is not going to happen for Switch – you’ll be able to carry your progression over.”
