PlayStation Website Is Losing Several Key Features At The End Of The Month

PlayStation has decided to remove the MyPlayStation feature from its website in its almost aggressive pursuit to move more PlayStation owners onto its app.

With the removal of MyPlayStation from the PlayStation website, several key features are also going with it. This includes trophy support, friends, and parties as well as easy access to your profile information and game library. As can be seen on the section of the PlayStation website regarding PlayStation products and services, MyPlayStation will cease to exist on June 28 this year.

It’s worth noting that all of these features will still be available on the PlayStation mobile app as well as PS4 and PS5 consoles and that players will still be able to look at their game libraries and profile information on the website, albeit in a rather roundabout way. This is just more proof that Sony is attempting to push its users towards its mobile app as it likely sees it as a more modern way to keep its fans up to date.

However, not everyone is as keen as Sony to download its fancy new app, and there’s an argument to be made that having only one method of sharing content and connecting with other players outside of the consoles themselves is rather restrictive. Sony’s app will likely see more improvements as time goes by, possibly implementing some Discord features thanks to the two having partnered at the beginning of last month, but right now it just looks like Sony s once again removing features for no good reason.

In other PlayStation news, Head of PlayStation Studios Hermen Hulst has just revealed details about a number of upcoming PlayStation games. According to Hulst, both Gran Turismo 7 and the new God of War game will be released on PS4, the developers behind Days Gone are currently working on a new IP, and that Horizon Forbidden West is on track to release this holiday season, but a release date is still to be confirmed.
