After being delayed several months due to COVID-19, Amazon Prime Day 2020 is finally live with thousands of deals available on the retailer’s website. After kicking off on Tuesday, Prime Day is now in day two, and less than 24 hours remain until the annual sale comes to a close. That means you’ll want to check out all the available deals while you still can today, and to make it easier, we’ve rounded up some of the best Prime Day gaming deals right here, including can’t-miss game deals. As usual, you’ll need a Prime membership to shop the sale, and a 30-day free trial is available.
Prime Day is bringing steep discounts on some of the best games for Nintendo Switch, PS4, Xbox One, and PC. It’s also an excellent opportunity to snag PC hardware at a discount, and you’ll also find sweet deals on gaming accessories, merch, Blu-rays, collectibles, and practically anything on your wish list. Keep in mind you’ll need to be logged in to see Prime Day prices. On a listing, look for the blue Prime Day Deal label–your price at checkout will be indicated to the right of it. Other retailers are also holding anti-Prime Day sales this week. We’ve included some of those deals below (when those prices aren’t available at Amazon).
PS Plus 12-months
$33.49 (was $60) with promo code GAMESPOTPSN
PlayStation Plus gets you free monthly games, access to online multiplayer, and more, and right now, you can snag a full year’s subscription for just $33.49 with promo code GAMESPOTPSN at Daily Steals. The 12-month code is delivered to you via email and can take up to a business day to show up in your inbox–look for your order’s tracking number, as it’ll be your PSN redemption code.
Switch Online bundle
$40 (was $70)
Amazon has a great deal right now that bundles 12-months of Nintendo Switch Online with a 128GB microSD card for $40, saving you $30 on the pair altogether. Nintendo Switch Online gives its users access to a huge library of retro games from the NES and SNES catalogues as well as free games and trials. You’ll also need it if you want to play online multiplayer on the Switch.
The Last of Us Part II
$40 (was $60)
The Last of Us Part II is one of the PS4’s biggest games of 2020, and since its launch in June, we haven’t seen it on sale much. Amazon currently has Naughty Dog’s latest for $40, down from $60, so now’s a great time to pick it up and play through Ellie’s journey.
Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection
$35 (was $60)
Mortal Kombat 11 was one of the best fighting games of 2019, touting a great online multiplayer community, engaging single-player story mode, and more. This year saw the release of the Aftermath expansion, which added three new DLC characters–Shang Tsung, Fujin, and Robocop–as well as a mini-campaign that details the events after the main game’s credits. With Kombat Pack 2 just announced, it’s a great time to jump into MK11.
Pokemon Sword And Shield
$40 each (was $60)
Best Buy has the best deal on Pokemon Sword and Shield that we’ve seen since the games first launched last year. They’re both down to $40 from their usual $60. The Pokemon games aren’t usually included in sales on first-party games, so this is a deal worth snagging, especially ahead of the holidays.
SteelSeries Arctis 1 Headset
$75 (was $100)
SteelSeries’ Arctis 1 wireless gaming headset is one of our top picks for not only the PS5, but also Nintendo Switch. The Switch doesn’t allow for headphones to connect to it directly via Bluetooth, but the Arctis 1 comes with everything you need to make wireless listening work, including a portable USB-C dongle that plugs into the Switch or Switch Lite.

Best tips for Amazon Prime Day
To get the most out of Prime Day, it’s best to know exactly what you’re shopping for. Otherwise, it’s easy to get sucked down the rabbit hole of Amazon’s endless lineup of deals. While Black Friday offers you a lot of time to plan for the exact deals you want to take advantage of, Prime Day deals are generally kept secret until the event kicks off, so you’ll want to be ready at your computer that day to snag anything you want. The best deals are sure to sell out quickly.
There are different types of Prime Day deals to be aware of, and understanding what these are can help your planning. Prime Day really kicks off about a week beforehand with early access or countdown deals. Throughout the event, you’ll also see spotlight deals–these run for 24 hours and can take place during the lead-up to Prime Day as well as the event itself. Lightning deals tend to be some of the best discounts of Prime Day, but these are limited-time, limited-stock items that will sell out fast. The best way to keep up with those is through the Amazon app on your phone as well as the upcoming deals page on Amazon. Hit “watch this deal” to get notified when it starts. Finally, there will be thousands of Prime Day-exclusive deals that run the entire duration of Prime Day, which will likely be 48 hours this year. These offers are still likely to sell out if they feature popular items, like the Nintendo Switch.
Check out our guide to the best Prime Day tips to ensure you don’t miss out on the hottest deals.
