Simlish Version Of Pocketful Of Sunshine Mistakenly Played By Local Radio Station

Natasha Bedingfield's "Pocketful of Sunshine" was released in 2008 and quickly shot up Billboard’s pop chart, eventually reaching fifth. It was one of the most popular songs of the year–so popular, in fact, that Sims modders decided to run the song through a Simlish converter to create a version of the song for The Sims 2.

Historically, Simlish remixes were something that made the rounds on social media as a joke, but that’s where they stopped. Pocketful of Sunshine, however, has managed to come full circle after being aired on a local radio station 14 years later.

Reddit user Sara-tonin-def was just driving along in their Subaru when they noticed something was a little off about the song being played on 95.9 FM radio. After a chorus of "tap-nee no nay, ma habby pway," the issue became clear.

"My local radio station played the Simlish version of Pocket Full of Sunshine," explained Sara-tonin-def. "I was driving to work at like 8:30 in the morning when I heard this. Idk if someone requested it or it was accidentally the Simlish version but it’s a big radio station in my area."

You can almost make out "a secret place" in the song, but no, it's all Simlish, the gibberish language designed to sound like English but very much isn't. The Simlish version of Pocketful of Sunshine is actually pretty close to the original, making it to fifth on Billboard as well as fifth on our list of top ten Simlish remixes. It seems 95.9 FM also liked the Simlish cover enough to air live on the radio.

It seems there are a lot of strange things going on in The Sims’ official subreddit. Recently, a player was able to woo the Grim Reaper himself, eventually getting him to settle down to start a family with two-and-a-half skeletal kids and one skeletal dog. Or whatever Death does when he becomes someone’s boyfriend.
