A temporary Mario Kart 8 Deluxe ad in a Japanese 7-Eleven has fans hoping that the next DLC pack will be revealed soon. The poster, which employees are instructed to take down today, advertises the game and the first wave of DLC tracks, with the rest listed as coming soon.
With the poster given a strict date for when it should be taken down, fans are hypothesising that this means the second wave of tracks will be announced soon. This would follow prior trends, with a Smash Bros. poster coming down previously coinciding with Banjo Kazooie's reveal.
This find comes courtesy of Twitter user PushDustIn (via Go Nintendo), who shared the ad earlier this week. If the image is legitimate, then it means the 7-Eleven store in question would be taking the Mario Kart ad down today, perhaps meaning it will become obsolete soon.
Nintendo doesn't have another Direct scheduled right now, but the company is known to shadow drop products on its online store. This wouldn't be too surprising, given that DLC for the latest Mario Kart is almost guaranteed to perform well, even without much fanfare. As of right now however, there's no hint from official channels that an announcement is imminent.
The first wave of DLC courses came back in March, meaning the second expansion pack is likely on the horizon for the summer.
We already have a decent idea of what tracks will be in the next pass, with a previous banner ad giving us a hint of what's in store. The ad appeared to feature eight more tracks:
- New York Minute (Mario Kart Tour)
- Sydney Sprint (Mario Kart Tour)
- LA Laps (Mario Kart Tour)
- Koopa Cape (Mario Kart Wii)
- Maple Treeway (Mario Kart Wii)
- Mario Circuit (Super Mario Kart)
- Vanilla Lake (Super Mario Kart)
- Rainbow Road (Mario Kart 7)
In any case, we'll have to wait and see what we get from official channels. It's possible the announcement will come this week, with the previous ad being taken down on a Sunday.
