Travis Scott Joins PlayStation As A "Strategic Creative Partner"

Travis Scott, the rapper best known for his singles Sicko Mode, Highest in the Room and Franchise, now has a new job at PlayStation.

An announcement released on the PlayStation blog on Friday stated that Scott has joined the video game brand as a “strategic creative partner.”

“Travis is an artist who is incredibly innovative, constantly surprising, and continues to push boundaries, very much like the PlayStation brand – so we think this is a perfect fit,” the blog post by PlayStation Worldwide Marketing Senior Vice President Eric Lembel stated. “When we embarked on this collaboration, the most important thing was to keep it as open as possible, to allow space to explore interesting, creative ideas.”

According to the blog post, Scott has fond memories of PlayStation products and games, which they believe will inspire him to create unique and surprising works that reflect the creativity on display at PlayStation.

The announcement came complete with a video created by Scott to mark the occasion.

The video, which appears to contain a reference an old Maxell cassette tape commercial from the 1980s, shows off PlayStation’s engineering, design and marketing staff before cutting to Travis grabbing a PS5 controller and being overwhelmed with sound waves.

For his part, Travis said that he’s excited about the opportunity for him and his record label, Cactus Jack Records, to work with Playstation.

“I’m really looking forward to being able to showcase everything that Cactus Jack has worked on with Sony and the PlayStation team,” Scott said in the blog post. “Most importantly I’m excited to see how the PlayStation fans and family respond, and I look forward to running some games with everybody very soon!”
