Ubisoft Dives Into The Details Of The Division Heartland In Ubisoft Forward

The publisher behind the highly anticipated looter shooter The Division Heartland, Ubisoft, recently revealed some details about the game at the latest Ubisoft Forward. According to the company, The Division Heartland will be drawing from the same well as The Division and its more popular sequel The Division 2, but innovating on some important points.

“We’re so excited to show you Heartland, an all new entry in The Division universe,” Creative Director at Red Storm Entertainment Keith Evans remarked. “The team has poured their hearts into this game and we can’t wait to show it to you. Welcome to Silver Creek.”

While the company held back from giving any specifics about the gameplay, Evans noted that “we’re so excited to bring something new to fans of the franchise. Heartland is a free-to-play survival action shooter set in The Division universe that features streamlined survival gameplay and a beautiful new world to explore.”

When it comes to the story, the developers were a little bit more open. “You play as a Division agent given the task of protecting Silver Creek, a small town in Middle America from enemy factions, rogue agents, and a deadly contamination,” Evans explained. “This game ties directly into the timeline and introduces all-new characters and storylines to the franchise.”

“Heartlands feels fresh and distinct while still feeling at home alongside the other amazing games in this universe. We can’t wait to have you join us in Silver Creek,” Evans said.

This comes in the wake of some content for the game that was leaked on the store page several days before Ubisoft Forward. “Fight together in 45-player PvEvP Storm Operations against a group of dangerous Rogue Agents, an aggressive faction known as the Vultures, all while surviving a lethal virus,” the description stated. Players were invited to “complete PvE missions, gather gear, activate alerts, and prep the battlefield in Excursion Operations” while playing as “one of six agents” after having selected “between three classes each match, all with their own perks and skills.” The leaked information was quickly removed before later being put back on the official website.
