GOG is offering Warhammer 40K: Rites of War for free on its storefront until 6 AM PT / 9 AM ET on Sunday, July 19. You can claim it directly on the GOG.com homepage.
Rites of War is a 1999 strategy game from lauded developer SSI, which specialized in recreating tabletop wargames for digital platforms, particularly for the Warhammer 40K and Dungeons and Dragons licenses. Several of the game’s reviews on the GOG site compare Rites of War to SSI’s Panzer General, one of the most beloved strategy games of its day.
This free giveaway is part of a large sale on Warhammer games on GOG. That sale includes deep discounts on Space Hulk: Deathwing, Warhammer: Chaosbane, and many other strategy games bearing the Warhammer 40k name.
As with most games on GOG, Rites of War is DRM-free. Based on its low system requirements – a DirectX 9-enabled GPU and a 1.8 GHz processor – it’s likely to run on almost any modern machine, but it does require a version of Windows from XP or later.
